BVB finishes the Paco party- way free for Can?

The Paco party is over: the once-cheered goalie Paco Alcacer leaves Borussia Dortmund after only one and a half years and returns to his Spanish homeland to the FC Villarreal. This was announced by the BVB on Thursday evening.

The 26-year-old, according to his new club, receives a contract by June 2025 and flushes the German vice-champion, including bonus payments of around 30 million euros into the cashier.

“We thank Paco Alcacer for his achievements in the BVB jersey and wish him well for his Future health and maximum sporting success”, Dortmund Sports Director Michael Zorc was quoted in a press release from Westphalia.

Alcazar’s sudden exit through the back door was no longer surprising, Erling Haaland has recently stolen the show from him. The alternate Alcacer was not in the frame at all for the round-back attack in Augsburg (5:3), against Cologne (5:1) he crashed 90 minutes on the bench.

For a long time he was celebrated as a healer in Dortmund, in 47 obligatory games he scored 26 goals for the black-yellow. After his good start of the season, however, he no longer played a role in the concept of trainer Lucien Favre, in the winter training camp he showed little commitment.

Alcazar at the BVB apparently dispensable

At the latest when Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke described it as a mistake at the Annual General Meeting in November, “Alcazar had to be heard to avoid committing another stormer.” I only said at the time that we failed to commit a certain niner guy in the summer,”the BVB boss said on Thursday at the Sports Business Congress SPOBIS in Dusseldorf:”A niner like Paco, who has very high qualities, This is why Paco was allowed to start negotiations with other clubs, and for a long time a return to FC Valencia was favoured. Zorc stressed that the association had made the decision “not easy”. But you have to consider, “What else do I get from a player? What else can I expect?”

This was apparently no longer much in the case of Alcacers. With its five goals in the first two games, Haaland has also conquered the black and yellow hearts in the storm. The Norwegian Super Joker is on fire in a duel against Union Berlin on Saturday (15:30 o’clock) on his first start-up run.

Is the BVB now getting Emre Can?

“Erling is in an excellent constitution,” Zorc said. However, he did not want to give Favre a start-up guarantee. It is possible that we will see,”said the Swiss.

Favre expressed a similar reticence about the possible new access to Emre Can. Negotiations with Italian record champion Juventus Turin are under way, but “no final decision” has been made, Zorc stressed: “The window of time is still limited. I do not think that the BVB should agree in principle with Can, but now a final agreement has to be reached with Juve. After the end of the Paco party the necessary money would probably be available.
