The new Bundestrainer Alfred Gislason will be competing with former European champions Christian Dissinger (Vardar Skopje) and Finn Lemke (MT Melsungen).
The two backroom players will return for the EM qualifying games on November 5th in Dusseldorf against Bosnia-Herzegovina and November 8th in Tallinn against Estonia back in the national team, as the German Handball Association (DHB) announced.
The 21-player is led by Captain Uwe Gensheimer (Rhein-Neckar Lions). In the goal, Gislason plays Andreas Wolff (KS Kielce), Johannes Bitter (TVB Stuttgart) and Silvio Heinevetter (MT Melsungen) in his first games as national coach. Paul Drux and Fabian Wiede of the Berlin foxes, on the other hand, are only in the extended cadre.
“I look forward to continuing the work with the national team and finally being able to train with the team. We will make the best of these common days,”said the 61-year-old successor of Christian Prokop. In fact, Gislason had already made his debut in March, but due to the Corona pandemic the country match against the Netherlands in Magdeburg fell short-term.
In addition to Dissinger and Lemke, Gislason also relies on the 20-year-old Juri Knorr (GWD Minden) and 22-year-old Sebastian Heymann (Fresh on the palaces).
