EHF Cup Final: Metzingen wins in the play

Handball Bundesliga Champion TuS Metzingen has won the finals in the EHF Cup against the Hungarian representative KKA Dunaviaros with 28:26 (13:10), But it is not in a very good starting position for the rematch on the 6th of May in Veszprem.

Nearly 3000 spectators in the Toubinger Paul-Horn-Arena missed the TuSsies a better result, especially through an offensive that was not ideal in the final phase.

This would have been possible, For in the 48th minute Metzingen led against the slightly favored Hungarians still with six gates. Based on the excellent goalkeeper Sabine Stockhorst and wisely led by National Player Anna Loerper, the hosts were able to rely primarily on their compact defenses. However, the TuSsies had enormous problems with the also very offensive coverage of the guests, so some of the attack was concluded too hectic and thus without a torpedo.

The two backroom players Bernadett Temes and Tonje Loseth with six hits each. Also six times left-handed Anna Kovacs met for the guests.

Metzingen is the third German women’s team in an EHF Cup final after the ASK Forward Frankfurt/Oder (1985, 1990) and SC Leipzig (1986, 1992).
