National goalkeeper Silvio Heinevetter (34) leaves the Handball Bundesliga Fox Berlin after the next season and switches to league competitor MT Melsungen.
Fox Managing Director Bob Hanning confirmed a corresponding report of the “Bild” newspaper to the “SID”. Heinevetter had changed from SC Magdeburg to the Capital Club and over the past ten years became the sportsmanship of the Berliners.
“We owe a lot to Heine. It was a beautiful time,”said Hanning. But he ruled out the premature departure of Heinevetter in the summer. We agree that Silvio will fulfil his contract in Berlin. We will enjoy our last year together and want to get another title together. At least,”said Hanning.
Berlin had failed at the Final Four on Saturday at the semi-finals at the subsequent THW Kiel Cup (22:24). The EHF Cup has another chance at the capital club this season, where in the quarter-finals there is a German duel against the TSV Hannover-Burgdorf.
Heinevetter already looks back on a successful past with the foxes. He won the DHB Cup, then the EHF Cup twice (2015, 2018). In addition, with the extroverted Keeper, Berlin won the title twice at the Club-WM (2015 and 2016). With the national team Heinevetter 2016 celebrated the Olympic bronze medal in Rio and landed in fourth place at the home championship in January.
