Interception crash provides conversation needs

For Red Bull, the training day for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal did not go according to plan. In the first Free Training in the morning, Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly had placed themselves in positions four and 13.

In the afternoon, the two of them accidentally got a little too close, because driving directly behind Gasly, the exits of the harassment before start/finish (curve 14) slipped into the outer wall “the famous-famous Wall of Champions” and had to have his RB15 checked out at the box.

“So I went straight to the gas,”Gasly continued. I couldn’t see exactly what happened. When he was five seconds behind me, I found out he had touched the wall. We will certainly discuss this later.”

Hiding lost some training time due to the wall contact and occupied the 13th position in the FT2 result directly behind Gasly. Shortly before the end of the session, he was able to intervene once again in order to complete a long run.

“I have already lost a lot –first of all our fast lap,” the Dutch man says with reference to the wall contact and speaks of a “good” with a view to the long run with the tougher tyres. More: “The short runs weren’t too bad either. I would say that normally we would have come to P4, so okay.”

Soft tires worry – tension in the race?
