Porsche checks return to formula 1

The sports car manufacturer Porsche is considering a medium-term return to formula 1.

Managing Director Oliver Blume said in Stuttgart that the motorsport king class has arrived at the company and has asked it about its positions with a view to a new regulation of the motor regulation from 2025. It is now being examined within the VW Group whether an introduction to formula 1 will then be attractive to us”. But there is no decision yet. We will see what the next few months will bring.

According to the new rules, it could be said, among other things, that the engines of Formula One cars will have to be powered with sustainable fuel from 2025 onwards. However, a final decision is still pending.

Blume also mentioned the car manufacturer Audi, another VW daughter who is always present in motor sports, in connection with the Formula-1 planning games. In detail, however, he did not go into this.

In the past, there has been repeated speculation about a return of Porsche to formula 1. Porsche was last present as an engine manufacturer for the team Footwork in Formula 1. It is speculated about Red Bull as a possible future Porsche partner.
