Seals enjoy retirement: “Not boring yet”

After 19 professional years Arjen Robben ended his career in the summer. The Dutchman not only said goodbye to FC Bavaria, but also to the football business. At least he had an attractive offer.

The fact that Arjen Robben would end his career after the season 2018/19 was not yet established after his last mandatory game with FC Bavaria. The Dutchman hesitated for a long time with the decision to hang his shoes on the nail for good. Before that, the wingman had some offers to offer.

“It was absolutely an option,” Robben said in an interview with “PSV-TV” that he was thinking about returning to his former club PSV Eindhoven. PSV coach Mark van Bommel tried to persuade him to make a change, confessed Robben. It was my decision to end the whole thing. There were a few possibilities, PSV was one of them. I have also seriously thought about this, says the Dutchman.

Meanwhile the 35-year-old has become friendly with his “retirement”. I’m not bored yet. I’m busy and I have a lot of time for my family. I totally enjoy it and like life,”said Robben.

He does not miss football in business despite 19 years. I don’t feel like I want to kick a ball. I played a farewell game for Rafael van der Vaart last week. Otherwise, however, I did not wear football shoes,”said the ex-Munich, who in his spare time trains his son’s youth team.
